I graduated from CU Boulder with a BA in geography; minors in civil engineering, applied mathematics, and pure mathematics; and a certificate in GIS. I’ve been a seismic hazard research intern at the USGS for the past two years. My research revolves around optimization and uncertainty quantification for seismic hazard models. I’m overarchingly interested in improving the speed, accessibility, and flexibility of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis using new methods from machine learning, big data, and scientific computing.
At the USGS, I’ve focused on optimized spatial sampling and mesh generation for our national seismic hazard model. At CU Boulder, I completed an honors thesis under Dr. Karimzadeh revolving around an analytical uncertainty quantification framework for seismic hazard models. Over the course of my undergrad, I gained an interest in adaptive sampling/design of experiments, randomized numerical methods, and uncertainty-aware surrogate modeling.
When I’m not doing research, you can find me riding my bike in Boulder or Golden. I also enjoy creative writing and playing the piano.
